If your child struggles with literacy or numeracy, an assessment can often be the first step in understanding the obstacles that are getting in the way of your child’s progress and the key to unlocking their talents and self-belief.
I can offer support and advice about dyslexia and dyscalculia and help you understand your child's difficulties more.
What does the assessment involve?
A dyslexia and dyscalculia assessment involves;
Pre-assessment
Initial contact over email to discuss whether an assessment is right for you.
A pre-assessment questionnaire will then be carried out to gather information about the learner. Information will also be requested from the learner’s school.
Please note it is recommended that a vision test has been carried out in the last two years.
Assessment
The assessment takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete and will include a wide range of tests such as attainment, phonological processing, spelling, working memory, visual perception and visual/verbal underlying abilities. The assessment can be completed either at your house, school or my house.
Post Assessment
After the assessment, a summary can be given straight away or over the phone.
The final detailed report (25 sides of A4 approx) will explain the results, Strengths and areas for development are detailed, and strategies and interventions to support the child going forward are given. If a profile of dyslexia is found, the assessment offers an official diagnosis and can be used for exam access requirements. please note that this will take up to 3 weeks.
After you receive the report. A post-report discussion is available (if required over phone/email) to discuss and answer any final questions.
My Location
Dyslexia Assessment Epsom is based in Stoneleigh in Surrey. Within easy reach of Epsom, Ewell, Ashtead and Leatherhead. I live very close to Stoneleigh High Street and Stoneleigh Station.
Assessments are carried out in my home. If travelling to your home is required, an additional £25 will be added to the cost.
